Nexera includes a built-in Digital Asset Management (DAM) system designed specifically for e-commerce product imagery. Every image you upload is stored securely in Cloudflare R2 with automatic format detection, metadata extraction, and tenant-level isolation.
The DAM is tightly integrated with the rest of the platform. Assets link directly to products, flow through to Shopify sync, appear in the customer portal, and can be batch-converted to any format your channels require.
Key capabilities:
Secure cloud storage: all assets are stored in Cloudflare R2 with tenant-prefixed keys. Access is controlled via time-limited signed URLs generated per request.
Automatic linking: assets auto-link to products by matching SKU patterns in filenames.
Format conversion: convert between JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and TIFF on the fly or in batch.
Resize presets: define reusable dimension presets for common use cases like thumbnails, hero images, and social media.
AI alt text: generate SEO-friendly alt text for any image using Claude AI vision.
3D product shots: generate photorealistic 3D models from flat product images.
Upload images to Nexera using the drag-and-drop zone on the Assets page or by clicking the Upload button to open a file picker. You can upload one file at a time or select multiple files for batch upload.
Supported formats:
JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg), standard web photography format
PNG (.png), lossless format with transparency support
WebP (.webp), modern format with superior compression
TIFF (.tif, .tiff), high-quality print format
AVIF (.avif), next-generation format with excellent quality-to-size ratio
Free: 10 MB · 1 GB
Basic: 25 MB · 10 GB
Pro: 100 MB · 100 GB
Enterprise: 500 MB · Custom
During upload, Nexera extracts image metadata (dimensions, colour space, file size) and generates a thumbnail preview. The original file is stored unchanged in R2, conversions and resizes create new derivative files.
Filename conventions
Name your files with the product SKU as a prefix (e.g. "APJ-001-front.jpg", "APJ-001-detail-01.png") to enable automatic product linking. Nexera strips common separators like hyphens and underscores when matching.
For large image libraries, Nexera supports bulk upload via ZIP files. Package your images into a single ZIP archive, upload it, and Nexera will extract and process every file inside.
Prepare your ZIP file: Organise your images in a ZIP archive. Folder structure inside the ZIP is preserved and used to create matching folders in Nexera. Name files with product SKUs for auto-matching.
Upload the ZIP: Go to Assets, click Upload, and select your ZIP file. Nexera detects the archive format and shows the number of images that will be extracted.
Review the extraction preview: Before processing, Nexera shows a preview of which files will be extracted and which products they will be linked to by SKU. You can exclude specific files or adjust product links.
Process the upload: Click Process to start the background extraction job. Each image is individually uploaded to R2, thumbnails are generated, and product links are established. Track progress in the notification panel.
ZIP size limits
The maximum ZIP file size follows your plan's file size limit. Individual images inside the ZIP are also subject to the per-file limit. For very large libraries, split your images into multiple ZIP files.
As your asset library grows, folders and tags help you stay organised and find images quickly.
Create a folder hierarchy that mirrors your product structure, seasons, or campaigns. For example:
2025 / Spring-Summer / Jackets
2025 / Spring-Summer / Pants
2025 / Autumn-Winter / Jackets
Lifestyle / Lookbook
Brand Assets / Logos
Drag and drop assets between folders or use the bulk move action to reorganise multiple files at once. Folders can also be used to control access in the customer portal, assign specific folders to customer groups to limit what they can download.
Tags provide a flexible, cross-cutting way to categorise assets. An image can have multiple tags, and you can filter the asset gallery by any combination of tags.
Common tag patterns:
Shot type: front, back, detail, lifestyle, flat-lay, on-model
Usage: web, print, social, email, marketplace
Status: approved, needs-retouching, final
Smart filters
Combine folder and tag filters to create precise views. For example, show all "lifestyle" tagged images in the "2025 / Spring-Summer" folder to quickly assemble a lookbook or social media asset kit.
Different channels require different image formats. Your website might need WebP for performance, your print catalogue needs high-resolution TIFF, and your Shopify store expects JPEG. Nexera handles all of these from a single source image.
Convert between any supported format:
JPEG: adjustable quality (1–100), progressive encoding option
PNG: lossless with optional transparency preservation
WebP: lossy or lossless, typically 25–35% smaller than JPEG
AVIF: highest compression ratio, excellent for web delivery
TIFF: uncompressed or LZW compression, ideal for print workflows
To convert a single image, open the asset detail page and click Convert. Choose the target format and quality settings, then download the result or save it as a new asset alongside the original.
For bulk conversions, select multiple assets in the gallery, click Batch Convert, and choose your target format. The conversion runs as a background job and you will be notified when all files are ready.
Original preserved
Format conversion never modifies the original file. Converted images are stored as separate assets with a reference back to the source, so you always have the original quality available.
Resize presets let you define common image dimensions that you use repeatedly. Instead of manually entering width and height every time you need a thumbnail or hero image, apply a preset with one click.
Example presets you might create:
Shopify Thumbnail: 200 px · 200 px · Product listing grid
Shopify Product: 1024 px · 1024 px · Product detail page
Website Hero: 1920 px · 1080 px · Homepage hero banner
Social Square: 1080 px · 1080 px · Instagram post
Email Banner: 600 px · 300 px · Newsletter header
Create presets from Settings → Asset Presets. Each preset defines a name, target width, target height, and optional crop mode (fit, fill, or cover). Presets are available workspace-wide and can be applied during download, export, or batch conversion.
When applying a preset, you can combine it with format conversion, for example, resize to "Shopify Thumbnail" and convert to WebP in a single operation.
Alt text is essential for accessibility and SEO, but writing unique, descriptive alt text for hundreds of product images is tedious. Nexera uses Claude AI vision to automatically generate contextual alt text for any image.
How it works:
Single image: open any asset and click Generate Alt Text. The AI analyses the image content and generates a concise, SEO-friendly description. Review the suggestion and edit if needed before saving.
Bulk generation: select multiple assets in the gallery and click Generate Alt Text in the bulk actions bar. Alt text is generated for each image as a background job.
The AI considers the linked product's name and category when generating alt text, producing descriptions like "Alpine Pro Jacket in black, front view showing waterproof outer shell and adjustable hood" rather than generic output.
SEO benefit
Well-written alt text helps search engines understand your product images, improving your visibility in image search results. Nexera's AI generates alt text that balances descriptive accuracy with keyword relevance for your product category.
Generated alt text is stored on the asset record and automatically included when images are synced to Shopify or served through the customer portal.
Turn flat product images into photorealistic 3D models with Nexera's AI-powered 3D generation feature. Powered by fal.ai and Meshy.ai, this feature creates rotatable 3D product visualisations from standard product photography.
Select a source image: Choose a high-quality product photo with a clean background and good lighting. Front-facing images with the product centered work best for 3D reconstruction.
Start generation: Click Generate 3D on the asset detail page. Choose from available camera angle presets (front, 3/4 view, top-down) and lighting presets (studio, natural, dramatic).
Wait for processing: The 3D model generation typically takes 30 to 90 seconds depending on complexity. You will receive a notification when the model is ready for review.
Review and approve: Inspect the generated 3D model in the interactive viewer. Rotate it to check all angles. If the result is satisfactory, approve it to add to your asset library. If not, regenerate with different settings.
Pro plan required
3D product shot generation requires the Pro plan or higher. Each generation counts toward your monthly AI credit allocation. Check your remaining credits in Billing → Usage.
Generated 3D models are stored alongside your other assets and can be linked to products. The models can be exported in standard 3D formats for use in your website, augmented reality experiences, or marketing materials.
For best results, use source images that are:
At least 1024 x 1024 pixels resolution
Shot on a white or neutral background
Well-lit with minimal shadows
Showing the full product without cropping
